Al's Vertical Rescue Notes
by Alan Sheehan B.E.
Vertical Rescue is a hazardous activity. The information provided here is not intended to teach someone vertical rescue. It is provided in good faith so that competent vertical rescue operators can share the author's learnings over 20 years of vertical rescue operations and training in canyons, caves, remote area clifflines, and man made structures. While every effort has been made to ensure the information presented here is accurate and free of mistakes, errors may occur. Competent vertical rescue operators and/or trainers should assess and check this information, or devise a safe way to test it, to ensure they fully understand it before putting it into practice. Some devices and methods may be safe in a particular vertical rescue protocol but not in another. As the degree of competency of the end user is not known, and many factors can adversely affect a vertical rescue, the author accepts no responsibility for the results of the application of the information provided in these documents.
