SARCalc 3 is a MS Excel workbook for Land Search Control by managing search probabilities. By sound application of probability theory, difficult search management decisions can be made, justified and documented.

Features of SARCalc 3:

• Up to 60 search sectors plus the rest of the world (ROW).
• Up to 10 Operational Periods in one file.
• Longer operations can be catered for by either linking to or copying from previous files.
• Initial Probability of Area (POA) can be determined by up to 4 search planners, and each can perform a full Scenario Analysis, the results being combined by the Mattson method.
• All maths and algorithms are visible to the user and consistent with probability theory.
• Improved Clue handling algorithm to maintain consistency between clues and no clues that is consistent with probability theory, and considers the effect of clues on the POAs of multiple search sectors resulting in more efficient direction of the search to the subject.
• Worksheets and workbook are protected against inadvertent errors, but not password protected so any Excel competent programmer can support and troubleshoot.
• Use of "gut feel" phrases to make estimating probabilities easier and more realistic. The "gut feel" scales are presented to the user during data entry to assist consistency.
• Utilizes MS Excel.
