Visions - Panoramas

Ever since my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic, I have been cutting photos and assembling them into panoramas. In these days of digital photography, of course, this process is much simpler, quicker and provides much more satisfying results.

All the images on this page have been reduced in size for the web, many quite significantly (by a factor of 3 or 4).

Unless otherwise noted, all panoramas were assembled using Arcsoft Panorama Maker 3.0 and final touches using Adobe Photoshop (either 7 or CS). Older images were captured with a Kodak DC 3400 2.0 megapixel camera, which often surprises critics with the quality of images it produces for such a small image size camera. Later images were collected on an Olympus C5060WZ (5 megapixel).

The view west from Crafts Wall in the Kanangra Boyd National Park, Australia. Taken as a series of 6 photos on May 22, 2005. The the centre of the image is Thurat Spires. Left from there is Kanangra Deep, Kanangra Walls, Brennan Spur and Mt Jingery. To the right of Thurat Spires is Danae Brook canyon, Mt Danae and Mt Paralyser. Images were collected with the camera pointing down into the canyon to give the horizon the curvature effect. Camera: Olympus C5060XZ.
Lynette D'Arcy-Evans abseils the second pitch in Arabanoo Creek Canyon in the Kanagra Boyd National Park, Australia. This is a panorama made of two images captured with a Kodak DC 3400 on January 10, 2004.
This is Denham's Beach near Batemans Bay, New South Wales, Australia. This image is constructed from 2 photos taken with a Kodak DC 3400 camera on November 21, 2004.

This is part of the same scene above, but after dark with the party in full swing. This image is built up from 4 photos.
The view of the Gangerang Range from Kanangra Walls in the Kanangra Boyd National Park, Australia. In the centre is Mt Cloudamker behind Kanangra Deep. To the right is Kanangra Walls. Crafts Wall is between Cloudmaker and Kanangra Walls. To the left of Kanangra Deep are the Thurat Spires Ridge (foreground) and Gentles Lookout. Two photos from an Olympus C5060WZ were assembled to make the image.
Another Garden image from Christmas Day 2005 celebration preparations. Assembled from 5 photos.
The same scene as above after dark and with Christmas Celebrations in progress. Assembled from 4 photos.
A view from the plateau walk at Kanangra Walls, Kanangra Boyd National Park, Australia. Through the trees Kanangra Walls are visible. Three photos taken on April 24, 2005 with an Olympus C5060WZ camera were assembled into this image.
The hull of a Matilda Tank features in this panorama of precious and semi-precious treasure at a friend's property. Six images were combined to make the final panorama. Fewer images could have been used at the expense of achieving a smooth curve to the edge of the track.
Lynette D'Arcy-Evans enjoys the shade of "Big Daddy Rock" for a lunchtime break while climbing Box Creek Falls in the Kanangra Boyd National Park Australia. Four photos taken with an Olympus C5060WZ camera on December 30, 2004 were used to make this image.
A break in the shade at the bottom of Box Creek Falls, Kanangra Boyd National Park, Australia. Assembled from 3 images taken on December 30, 2004 with an Olympus C5060WZ.
Five photos taken with the camera on a short tripod using existing light allowed me to capture this image of the crowd around the bon fire without people being "confronted" with the camera.
This image is made from 6 photos, Just for fun I had Lyn pose in the first and last photos so she appears in the final image twice! With careful planning this method can be used to "tell a story" in one image.
Another image from a friends' garden taken on Christmas Day 2005. A total of 6 photos from an Olympus C5060WZ camera were used.
The Christmas Tree during afternoon party preparations. Assembled from 6 photos.
The same scene as above but after dark. Assembled from 5 images in this case.
Arie's Falls on Brisbane Valley Creek. This panorama of 8 photos taken in portrait format and assembled with Arcsoft Panorama Maker 3 was taken on September 17, 2006. Camera: Olympus C5060WZ.
The old homestead at Wiseman's Creek, with the General Store and Yards. These buildings survive from the hay day of Wiseman's Creek as a gold mining town. Wiseman's Creek used to be on the Oberon to Rockley Cobb and Co stage mail route. The General Store was converted to shearing shed when the settlement dispersed. Taken September 17, 2006 with an Olympus C5060WZ and assembled from 4 images.
Another view of the old homestead at Wiseman's Creek. Panorama assembled from 2 photos.
