DisclaimerThe following engineering spreadsheets are offered on the public domain to assist fellow engineers and students in good faith. While every effort has been taken to ensure these worksheets do not contain errors, errors may exist. It is the user's responsibility to check all results obtained from these worksheets. Statistical and Quality Calculation WorksheetsThis is not a tutorial on how to use Control Charts. These files are presented here for those who know what they are and how to use them (in general terms). Below is a list of references should you wish to know more about Control Charts and Design of Experiments. References:
| |
c Control Chartc Chart.xls26kB download. The c Chart is used to measure and control non-conformities or defects (not number of reject items) whenever the sub-group (sample) size remains uniform.
p Control Chartp Chart.xls31kB download. The p Chart is use to measure and control the number of rejects. It may be used on uniform or variable sample sizes.
u Control Chartu Chart.xls34kB download. The u Chart is used to measure non-conformities or defects (not number of reject items) whenever the sub-group, or sample, size is not uniform.
Mean x and R ChartX bar and R Chart.xls55kB download. Used to measure and control variable data for sample sizes less than or equal to 7.
x and R Chartx and R Chart.xls37kB download. Used to measure and control single point variable data. Use this instead of Mean x and R Chart if data is scarce or it makes no sense to lump measurements into "sample groups".
Process Capability (Cpk) CalculationsCpkCalcs.xls20 kB download.
CpkPerfectSamplesCpk for perfect Samples.xls350 kB download. This is a bit of specialist thing, but if you have a similar need, it might save you reinventing the wheel. This was used to estimate the process capability of a machine that is supposed to produce the same number of items everytime (but sometimes doesn't). In this case, it was a feeder pushing a number of thin board panels to a saw. Simply enter the desired number of items, then count the number of times in a row that that number of items was actually produced until it gives the incorrect number. The Cpk is then looked up off this sheet.
Deming Funnel ExperimentDemingFunnel.xls51 kB download. This is a computer model of Demming's famous Funnel Experiment demonstrating the effect of inappropriate adjustments on variability and process control.
2^2 Full Factorial AnalysisDOEFF2.xls21 kB download. Full factorial calculation for 2 level 2 variable analysis.
2^3 Full Factorial AnalysisDOEFF3.xls27 kB download. Full factorial calculation for 2 level 3 variable analysis.
2^4 Full Factorial AnalysisDOEFF4.xls42 kB download. Full factorial calculation for 2 level 4 variable analysis.
Variables SearchVSEARCH.xls39 kB download. The Rolls Ryce of variation reduction methods.
Air Systems Measurement and Design WorksheetsReferences:

10 Point Measurement Traverse Calculations10PointTraversemmWG.xls or 10PointTraversePa.xls22 kB and 21 kB downloads respectively. Obviously one is setup to work in mmWG pressure units while the other works with standard SI units. Just enter the duct diameter, the sheet will calculate the pitot tube positions for a 10 point traverse. Enter the readings and it calculates the total flow in average speed, mass and volumetric flow.

Mechanical and Structural WorksheetsReferences:
2D Centroid2dcentroid.xls20 kB download. Use this to calculate the position of the centroid and section properties for composite sections.
External Loading DesignExternalLoadingDesign.xls30 kB download. Wind and Snow loading in accordance with the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards AS 1170.2 and AS1170.3 Wind and Snow Loading respectively. The worksheet contains information for Oberon NSW Australia. Users can adjust this with their local data.
Estimating WorksheetESTIMATE.xls19 kB download. A simple estimating worksheet for small projects. It features three columns in the descrition area so detail calculations can be performed on the sheet before submittind data to the quantity or rate columns.
