The Sun August 19,2006

This whole disc image of the sun was captured afocally with an Olympus C5060WZ handheld to the eyepiece of a Coronado Personal Solar Telescope (PST) (H alpha scope) with 13mm Nagler Type 6 eyepiece. Camera settings: 23mm FL, f/4.8, 1/80 sec, 125 ASA, autoexposure, manual focus - effective focal length 707mm. This is a single image only, cropped, colour balance adjusted to highlight detail, and saved for the web in Photoshop 7.

At top right of the disc can be seen the sunspot 904, and two large prominences from the right hand side of the disc. Some detail is visible around the sunspot as well.

Either lead, follow or get the hell out of the way!
