Schiller

Captured on August 6, 2006
this image is a mosaic of two stacked images. Captured by
negative projection with my Celestron C8 with a 2.5x Powermate
moon filter and ToUcam 840 Pro. K3ccdtools was the capture
software. Registax was used to stack the best 100 or so frames
from each avi, and apply wavelets. Photoshop CS2 was used to
merge the images, crop and save for the web. Resolution is about
400m per pixel. Click on the image to see it full size.
The main crater in this
image is Schiller which is 179 kms long and 79 kms wide.
The mountain ridge in the northwestern end of Schiller is
clearly visible in this image. Below Schiller is Bayer a
47km diameter crater with a small internal craterlet, Bayer G,
just 7kms in diameter.
In the top right hand
corner are Bettinus and Kircher. Bettinus is 71kms
in diameter and the tip of it's central peak is just visible in
this image. Kircher is a 73km diameter crater with a flooded
floor.
Halfway between Schiller
and the right hand edge of the image is Rost, a 49km
diameter crater with a flooded floor. Rost's walls are 2000m
high. At about 10:30 from Rost is Rost A, a 39km diameter
crater, and below Rost in the image is Rost M which is
23kms in diameter. |
