CS2. Rupes Recta is a 114 km long scarp or
rectilinear fault. Also known as the Straight Wall. It is 300m
tall. Just below Rupes recta in this image is
the crater Birt: a 17 km diameter crater 3470m deep. Just below
and to the right of this Rima Birt is visible: a narrow
rectiliniear rille 51 kms long and about 1km wide.
The crater in the top right corner is Arzachel.
Thebit (top
centre) shows good detail and terraces in the floor of the crater
but Thebit A and L (immediately below) show little detail. Left
of Thebit is Thebit P a 78km diameter crater that looks almost
like a ghost crater. Minor impact marks and ejecta can be seen
between Thebit and Rupes Recta. |
