Maginus

This mosaic was assembled from 2 images,
unsharp masked and edges trimmed in Photoshop CS2. Original
images captured with a ToUcam 840 through my C8 SGT XLT with a
2x barlow. Resolution is approximately 500m per pixel.
The large battered crater at the left of this
image is Maginus - a 163km diameter crater with degraded
walls. Just to the right of Maginus is the 52km diameter crater,
Proctor, seen with the shadow of it's crater wall half
way across the crater floor.
Further to the right again is Saussure,
a 54km diameter crater with an elevation of 1880 metres.
Immediately to the right (South) of Saussure is the 122km
diameter Orontius which contains the smaller smooth
floored Orontius F (approximately 40- 50 km diameter) on
its southern edge.
Above Orontius is the younger crater Huggins, which is
65kms in diameter and has in turn been encroached on by
Nasireddin. Nasireddin is obviously younger again than
Huggins, and is 52 kms in diameter. Huggins A is also
clearly visible near the lower right edge, but inside, Huggins.
Just to the right of Nasireddin is the 75km
crater of Miller displaying it's central peak in this
image. In the bottom
right hand corner of this image is the battered crater of
Lexell - about 63kms in diameter. Deluc is the 47km
diameter crater in the top left corner of this image with the
floor of the crater obscured in shadow. |
